Next generation computational aero-acoustics – Zenotech Ltd

Next generation computational aero-acoustics

Next generation computational aero-acoustics

Zenotech is pleased to announce our participation in the LANDOne project – Landing Advances for a New Decade led by Airbus, global pioneer in aerospace.

Funded by The Aerospace Technology Institute, the Government’s Department for Business & Trade and Innovate UK, part of UK Research and Innovation, this is a 4-year Research and Technology programme. LandOne is designed to enable next-generation computational aero-acoustics (CAA) technologies to deliver an integrated landing system design solution for Airbus aircraft as they pioneer more sustainable flight.

The core capability development is computational aero-acoustics (CAA) utilising the latest high-order CFD from Zenotech and accessing modern cloud high-performance computing, including graphical processing units (GPUs).

One of our strengths is working across sectors with our CFD and supercomputing products, including aerospace, automotive, civil, and renewables engineering. This cross-sector application is particularly relevant for acoustics and noise reduction as there are common requirements driven by national environmental and operational regulations.

Therefore, this project builds on our existing portfolio in acoustic noise prediction, which is transformative in the turnaround time for new aircraft and vehicle design analysis. Our work ranges from high-profile rail infrastructure projects to design optimisation for luxury car brands using high fidelity and rapid response acoustic noise modelling. Large-scale wind farm modelling also draws on the same high-order and overset CFD software underpinning this acoustics capability.

Zenotech Director and Co-founder, David Standingford commented:

“We are delighted to announce this new funded project building on our existing partnership with Airbus and Safran, leaders in their fields. Our solutions harnessing computational aero-acoustics are paving the way for improved noise reduction, not only in aero but across sectors, and we look forward to contributing to the optimisation of landing systems for aircraft.”

The ATI Programme provides funding for research & technology projects that maintain and grow the UK’s competitive position in civil aerospace, and is delivered by a partnership of the Aerospace Technology Institute (ATI), the Department for Business & Trade and Innovate UK.
