From a kit of parts to the starting grid at Castle Combe. Over the last six months, students at Rougemont School have designed, built, and raced their own electric car in the Greenpower F24 Challenge. As proud platinum sponsors, Zenotech is thrilled to celebrate their achievement.

Run by the Greenpower Education Trust, the competition sparks enthusiasm for STEM through the excitement of motorsport. This is a taste of real-world engineering, rather than a classroom exercise. Success on the track requires balancing the trade-offs our industry faces every day: efficiency against speed, ambition against reliability, and individual ideas against team delivery.
Once in the pit lane, the students are entirely on their own, managing driver changes, pit stops, and race strategy under pressure.

This hands-on challenge is exactly why Zenotech backs the event. Our company thrives because of engineers who got hooked on hard challenges early on. Aerodynamics, energy efficiency, and performance under constraints are the very questions at the heart of our daily work in simulation and high-performance computing.
The Rougemont team’s own verdict says it best. In their post-race report, team members Harry and Edward wrote:
“It was great to see our car out on track competing and to know that we had built it ourselves. Overall, the experience has taught us so much about engineering, problem-solving and teamwork. Competing at Castle Combe is something we will remember for a long time, and it has inspired many of us to continue exploring engineering in the future and improving our car for the next race!”

David Standingford, Zenotech Co-founder and Director, added:
“What impressed me most is that the team crossed the finish line and immediately started asking how to go faster. That is the engineering mindset in action. Careers in this field often begin with such a defining moment. Who knows where the sense of achievement – from building a car with their own hands, making real decisions, and having total accountability – will take them. We’re delighted to have played a part.”
Congratulations to the Rougemont team. We can’t wait to see what’s next…
