From two prompts to an 800-million-cell CFD mesh: Meet the ZM3 AI interface

Setting up geometry and mesh sources is one of the most time-consuming parts of any CFD workflow. Defining domains, placing refinement regions and adjusting sources can take hours before the simulation even runs.

Zenotech’s upcoming graphical user interface (GUI) for ZM3, our HiPer mesh generator, changes that. It includes an AI interface that lets an AI agent set up your mesh from plain-English instructions.

Two prompts, under two minutes

Here’s a real aerospace example. The engineer typed just two prompts:

  • Create a domain suitable for an aerospace mesh, and put some refinement blocks over the body and wings, and also resolve the trailing vortices and wakes one aircraft length downstream.
  • Rotate the sources for the aircraft flying 20 degrees nose up.

ZM3 and the AI Agent built the domain, placed the refinement sources and rotated them to match the aircraft’s attitude. The total setup time was under two minutes.

800M+ cells on a laptop

But this fast setup doesn’t mean small meshes. From that two-minute setup, ZM3 generated a mesh of more than 800 million cells in under six minutes, on a MacBook Pro.

Your AI, your way

The ZM3 AI interface offers flexibility in how you use AI. Connect it to an online AI subscription or run your own offline model, customised with your organisation’s proprietary meshing best practices. With an offline model, you can keep your geometry, workflows and specialist knowledge within your own environment.

Coming soon to zCFD and HiPer

The same GUI and AI interface are in development for zCFD and HiPer.
