Zenotech is excited to be sharing the exciting, world-first results of our SafeZone project at the prestigious 33rd Congress of the International Council of the Aeronautical Sciences (ICAS) which will take place in Stockholm from 4 to 9 September 2022.
The interactive presentation, “Validating Airspace CFD models for drone operation with flight test data” will share a series of validation flight trials airside at Cardiff International Airport. This is the result of the first two phases of our SafeZone Project designed to enable safer drone flight in urban spaces and airports, reducing congestion and enabling more cost-effective airport inspections. This project is funded by the Future Flight challenge – a share of almost £70 million for ambitious, real-world demonstrations of a new aviation system.
The drone market is set to be 74 billion dollars by 2035 meaning that UAV users, insurers, and regulators will need the reassurance of safety. A critical part of the adoption of urban drone flight is having accurate, highly localised wind models, and that’s where the SafeZone project comes in. The partnership plans to enable the delivery of a new data service offering real-time information about aerodynamic hazards in urbanized environments.
We’re presenting at ICAS alongside founding partners of the SafeZone project, machine learning company, Flare Bright. Their SnapShot nanodrone is a highly accurate way to measure wind vectors at exceptionally high update rates and high fidelity, reaching places anemometers can’t, and is more cost-effective and produces more accurate data than LIDAR. This complements and validates our CFD models and AIRSIGHT service – an integrated online service delivering large airspace model datasets on-demand.
Zenotech’s Co-founder and Director, David Standingford, Mark Allen (CAA and CFD specialist), and James Sharpe, Software Architecture and Security specialist will be presenting with members of the Flare Bright team, Carl Sequeira, Conrad Rider, and Gabriel Fuse.
